In case you didn’t know, Saturday was FOOTball-townlakecRUISE-halloWEEN day!

We started the day early with Levi’s last football game of the season.  It was a great game…Levi pulled another flag…WOOHOO!  (He loves to give a ‘replay’, just ask!)  The Falcons end the season undefeated!

We left the game and went straight to downtown Austin for a cruise on TownLake.  The moms4moms group at our church planned the cruise as a thank you to us for working in the KidStuff hallway each Sunday.  The weather was wonderful and we had a great time!  The boys wore their costumes…Luke Skywalker (old school Star Wars) and Captian Rex (Star Wars the Clone Wars).

We had a one hour break before we headed over to our friend’s house for a chili dinner, trick-or-treating , and smores extravaganza!   There was quite a Star Wars convention…

It was a crazy busy day!!!

we moved into our home here in Manor!  Life has definatly been crazy, but I can see how God has taken care of us.  We love our life here, from our church that constantly challenges us to live our lives out loud for Christ, to our friends who support and love us on our journey! 

Here is a picture of the boys a few days after we moved in…they’ve changed a little, don’t you think?  (Levi just turned 4 and Jake is 18 mo!)

here is a sampling of some conversations i’ve had with jake just today…

jake : “mommy, does macaroni and cheese have hot lava in it?”

me : “nope”

jake : “good, ’cause my tummy says yuuummmm, i love macaroni and cheese!”

jake : “mommy, can i have some pudding?”

me : “yes, for dessert.”

jake : “but do we have any pudding without chocolate in it?”

me : “yes”

jake : “oh YEAH!  i want the kind without chocolate…YEAH!”

upon looking in the bathroom and finding jake’s pants and underwear on the floor and the potty…well…used (you know what i mean here) but no jake in sight…

me : “jake!  where are you?”

jake : “i’m hiding from you mommy!”

me : “come out jake…you don’t hide from mommy before she wipes your bottom!”

jake : “sheep can’t pray, can they?”

me : “not like we do because they can’t talk.”

jake : “well, i guess they pray like this ‘baa baa baa’, but they can’t pray like ‘i will praise thee!’” 

i just love this little man!  only, he’s not so little anymore!

Today Levi had the day off from school, so I took the opportunity to get some  pumpkin patch pictures with the boys like last year (http://edljmoss.wordpress.com/2008/11/02/trip-to-the-pumpkin-patch/) .  I’m going to try to do this every year…the pictures are just too much fun!

We went to the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm to check out all their fun activities  (http://pages.suddenlink.net/jrf/ectf/dd2.htm).  We enjoyed a hayride, rubber duck racing, a crazy maze,  petting animals, decorating pumpkins, and lots of hay bale jumping…all for a total of $12.50! 

We were able to have fun with our friends, The Paquettes (Noreen, Julie, Rilyn, Ella, and Asher).  It has been fun watching them adjust to having a little boy.  For example…the girls spent a long time decorating their pumpkins…while Levi, Jake, and Asher were ready to move on to something like splashing in puddles or jumping.

We love our friends and we love it when they come out to support Levi at his games!  Levi’s game this past Saturday was played at the Manor Mustangs new High School stadium.  The coaches went all out and announced the players one at a time over the loud speaker.  There were even cheerleaders (and one future cheerleader…next year Rilyn!)!  I didn’t get a picture, but Levi was VERY interested in the cheerleaders…VERY.  Our friends the Paquettes and Richardsons came out to cheer on our little man.  He may not have made the biggest plays, but I’m sure he had the biggest cheering section!  Go Falcons!

(The Cowboys may not be giving us much to cheer for this season…but Levi’s team is undefeated!)

Since school has started, we have bumped Levi’s bed time to anytime between 7:30 and 8.  Levi isn’t a fan of this earlier bedtime, but mommy and daddy both know that he needs his sleep!   Each night, one of us tells Levi that it is time to get ready for bed and, well, let’s just say Levi doesn’t respond like we want him to.  So, last night after he was in bed, Eddie and I came up with this…For each time he whines or complains about bedtime, he goes to bed 15 minutes earlier the next night.  Our strong hope is that this will stop the whinning! 

Today after talking about with Levi about his school day and getting a snack, I took a stab at explaining this new ‘discipline’ to Levi.  His first comment was “When I’m a daddy, I’m going to let my kids decide when they want to go to bed!”

So…I’m creating this post to ensure that I do NOT forget his little statement…It may come in handy in 25 years!

Jake seems to think that beds are way overrated…I found him in his closet fast asleep and, of course, I took a picture

…the Cowboys give a game away.”  That was Eddie’s response to my question, “Did you have fun at the Cowboys’ stadium opener game?”  If you recall a previous blog of mine about the men of our community group talking about going to a Cowboys’ game, you’ll be happy to know they went!  George W. must have thought it was worth a trip too

Let’s hope for a fresh start for the Cowboys tomorrow night!  Go Cowboys!

Levi’s first football game was on the 19th, and yes, I am just now getting around to blogging about it   I wasn’t too excited about traveling an hour to get to the game, but atleast the scenery was pretty.  We played a Lake Travis team, right on the lake.  If you don’t know much about Austin…there is a pretty side with hills and lush landscape…and…a not so pretty side that is flat with scrubby bushes.  Manor is on the not so pretty side, so it’s nice to see the beauty of Austin once in awhile!  Anyways…back to the game.  Levi didn’t play much during the first half…but during the second half…he stopped the other team on 4th down by pulling the runner’s flag!  It was very exciting and may possibly be the highlight of the season for us!  And yes, I clicked the camera just as it was happening…unfortunatly, you can’t see Levi in the pic   Oh well…here are some of the good pictures from the game.  Enjoy!

Jake has officially started preschool…for the third time.  When did he grow up?  He’s still my baby…

We started the day with a trip to the donut shop with Jake’s friends Ella and Anna.  Jake picked a pink iced donut with sprinkles.  I’m pretty sure he picked it for the sprinkles…it was either pink w/sprinkles or chocolate w/sprinkles and Jake doesn’t really like chocolate.

Mommy uses the days that Jake is at preschool very effectively.  On Tuesdays, I clean my house and volunteer at Levi’s school.  On Thursdays I go grocery shopping.  Levi is THRILLED that he doesn’t have to go with me!  But after going to the grocery store with someone for the past 6 years, I was kinda lonely when I went by myself.   Imagine that!
