Jake had his first Kindergarten field trip to the Austin Zoo. We had a great time and enjoyed getting really close to the animals.

So much fun!
Levi did a great job on his first book report. I was very proud of his story summary and jacket.

I know football finished in early November and that I’m a little behind on blogging, but I want to blog in order. Even if that means you are reading about something that happened two months ago. So here goes…
Levi’s team finished a great season with an unfortunate loss in the playoffs. The last few games were great…Here are some pictures.
Below you’ll see a bunch of pictures and videos of Levi on defense. He loves defense and played really really well!

I’ve written before that Levi has been struggling with anxiety when his team is losing or not playing well. When he would get hit with this anxiety, he would break down, feel like he couldn’t breath, and would kind of fall apart. We could tell that Levi was getting upset during this game, as his team wasn’t winning. However, for the first time, he remembered all the things we’ve been teaching him (deep breaths, stay focused, stay in the game – because if you don’t keep trying, you’ll never know how it could have turned out) and he played through his anxiety! We were SO proud of him!
The Texans lost due to some really poor referee calls (even the other team agreed
). After the game, when we were talking with Levi about how he played through his anxiety and yet they lost. He looked up at us with a small smile and said “I kinda feel like I won.” And we totally agreed with him! He won because he played his best…it didn’t matter what the score was at the end of the game. This was a huge lesson for him!
But, you know what?
Romans 8:28 was displayed perfectly for us here. “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” If I had my way in the beginning, I would have had the Texans win the game becuase I know that is what Levi would want. But God knows better. He knew the referee we would have would make those bad calls and thus, cause us to lose. If the referee had made the right calls, his team might have won. And I’m SO glad they didn’t! See, if they had won, Levi would have felt like he won – because they won. Instead, he felt like he won – because he played his best and didn’t give up!
Here Levi is getting encouragment from one of our family friends who came out to watch him play.
Below is a picture of Levi’s adoring fans. See how closely they watch the game and cheer him on?
The next game…
The last regular season game….
The playoff game. Eddie wanted me to take lots of video…so I didn’t get any pictures!
My favorite picture of the season!

Ok…so I’m a little behind and football was finished a month ago
Jake’s team, the Colts, ended up winning the Super Bowl for his level, though we aren’t really sure how that worked since they only played one play off game and were then pronounced Super Bowl Champs! Here are some pictures and videos of the last few games…
Snack is the best part!

Here are some pictures of our family carving.
Levi was very unimpressed with the pulp, but Jake was willing to suffer through it so that he could do some carving…

I can’t get the video to download of Jake putting freckles on his pumpkin. He did it by stabbing the poor pumpkin. It’s kinda appropriate for how he feels about his own freckles!

Eddie was able to get two tickets to the UT v Kansas football game. He took Levi and sent me a ton of pictures (meaning two).

So I took Jake to the best resturant ever (aka Taco Cabana) and to Chuck-E-Cheese. When I told Jake where Levi and daddy were, I asked if he was jealous. He answered “No. I know Levi loves football!” ![]()

I think I wore him out!

This year Eddie and I decided to try and do Halloween without spending any money!
So, Levi borrowed the top half of our friend’s old ninja costume and Jake wore some baseball gear. Yea! We didn’t spend $60 on costumes they would only wear ONE time!

We enjoyed the evening at our friend’s annual chili picnic before heading out to trick-or-treat. It’s been lots of fun over the years watching all these kiddos grow up (along with all the new additions!).

Here’s 2009…

Jake with some friends…

….he doesn’t look like the youngest of the three (by about 1.5 years)!
I love this shot of the big kids starting their candy hunt…

(We are going to pretend that the bride (Rilyn) is NOT chasing after the ninja (Levi) even though it kinda looks like he’s wearing a tux
)
I love these kiddos!

Here they are in 2009…

The best day of the year for Jake!

Jake had a fun Pumpkin Day at school.
Working diligently on his pumpkin paper…

The pumpkin’s weight was 10.4. I showed him where to write ’10.4′ on his paper. He wrote this…
10—>4
…and explained “See? 10 and then it points to 4!” He was so proud … and so was I!
All carved up… (it was really windy, so my hair is funny looking)

Last week, I decided to take the boys to the pumpkin patch after school. Since they get out of school at 11:45, I figured we would have a fun afternoon with the pumpkins. We stopped for McDonald’s and then headed on out to Elgin. We arrived at 1:50 and I thought to myself…”Wow! No one is here…we’ll have the place to ourselves!” That was until I was told that they close at 2:00. Oops. I asked if the boys could just run through the maze just one time and they agreed. Then we were allowed to go pick out a pumpkin to purchase. I just happened to catch a few photos while we were doing that
Lastly I asked if the boys could do just one little duck race…the workers reluctantly agreed. We ran over, did one race, paid for the pumpkin and headed out…but we did one more stop for the boys jumped off of the hay bales
We were in our car by 2:06. That’s 16 minutes total. The boys said it wasn’t much fun since it was so rushed and they didn’t have any friends with them. I told them to look on the bright side…I usually take over 150 pictures when we are at the pumpkin patch…today I only took 30!
When we got home, the boys agreed to take a few photos outside with the pumpkins. Here are my favorites…

And the boys insisted on this…
